Barry Slocombe, BBA

Professional Funeral Celebrant

Professional – Respectful – Caring – Affordable – Passionate – and engaging ceremonies for your loved one.

Following a 35 year career as an independent insurance adjuster and dealing with people under duress all my working life, I wanted to keep busy and help people and I joined a local Funeral Home as a Funeral Director’s assistant.

It did not take me long to believe that my Funeral Home experience, my education, my skill set from the insurance industry: dealing with people from all walks of life, information gathering ability, strong writing skills, organized with an eye for detail, compassion, my broadcasting and Master of Ceremonies experience, as well as my domestic and international public speaking experience would put me in good stead to become a Funeral Celebrant.

Working with a mentor, I set up my own practice in the Fall of 2015 and since that time have conducted several hundred Celebration of Life/Memorial services, as well as graveside interments, inurnments and scattering of ashes.

In collaboration with family designates, through an unhurried face to face meeting and other communication, my approach is to secure all the information necessary to create a unique and personalized a Celebration of Life or Memorial service with compassion, respect and sincerity, which honours and celebrates your loved one’s life.

I will also assist you in choosing poems, songs, quotes, Bible readings

In addition to the service itself, I will create an Order of Service to ensure that the ceremony goes smoothly and professionally.

My services are available throughout Metro Vancouver and can take place at any location of YOUR choice: a Funeral Home, a Crematorium, Graveside, a Residence, a
Golf Course, a Hotel and can consist of a non-Religious Funeral, Celebration of Life or Memorial or Spiritual service.

My fees are commensurate with the retaining of Religious Clergy.
